Social Security Programs – Survivors´ Pension

According to data from the United States Social Security Administration and social securities in other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, there are differences regarding the maximum age at which children (under 18) receive an orphan´s pension.

First, we plotted the survival pension for healthy children who aren´t students, according to which, in Brazil the pension is received until age 20, while in other countries such as Honduras, Panama and Venezuela, the maximum age is 13 years old.

On the other hand, we plotted the maximum age at which healthy children who are attending school, receive survival pensions. The graph shows that Haiti does not have an age limit, while Cuba is the country with the lowest age (16 years old).
