A few days ago we gave a note that inequality in Mexico increased until 2008 (with data from household survey). The data do not consider that during the economic crisis the inequality may have fallen as it did in Brazil. The country registers a smaller inequality since the last quarter of 2008. As it is mentioned in this note the performance of Brazil can be explained because the crisis affects more to the industrial sector that pays best wages, the minimum wage protection and the continuation of assistance programs.
