Unemployment rate reaches its highest level in Mexico

According to INEGI the unemployment rate in Mexico in January 2009 is 5% of the economically active population. This is its highest level since this series began to be calculated to be nationally representative in 2000 (see graph). Jobless population passed from 1 million 922 thousand people at the end of 2008 to 2 millions 250 thousand at the end of January 2009.
