Moonlighting and Social Security in Uruguay

The Social Security Bank (BPS) of Uruguay plans to attack “pockets” of evasion detected in moonlighting, which has grown between 14% and 16%. Besides the reforms promoted by the Government of Uruguay (in family allowances and health), the BPS’ intention for 2011 is to notify every worker’s employment history at least once a year and extend to more processes the electronic record system (which began in May 2010). To read the complete interview to the Chairman of the BPS, read this article published by El País.
