Gap in life expectancy: afro-american vs white

The lag in health status and survival probabilities by the African-American population in the US has been noted by notable social researchers (Moynihan and Sen are two big names in the field). This graphs show that the gap was in fact very large a hundred years ago, was still substantial after the Second World War and was still noticeable early in the 21st century. Will the results of the 2010 census show that the gap is virtually closed?
