Increase applications for disability benefits in the U.S.

The economic crisis has caused the number of former employees seeking benefits for social security disability has increased by 21% from 2008 to 2009 in the United States. This means that the program's expansion is due to the unemployed, and not the delivery of benefits that disabled people need, the main purpose of the program (see here).
