Low coverage in America
According to a new World Bank report, although in most countries of America, cash transfer programs now protect the extreme poor; pensions, unemployment benefits and health insurance fail to provide most workers with protection (especially those in the informal sector). Countries need to focus their attention in increasing coverage of social insurance since more than 50% of the region’s workforce is employed in the informal sector.
