Social Protection Floor Initiative

Due to the fact that social security systems work as economic stabilizers in times of crisis, ILO and UN created the Social Protection Floor Initiative. Its main objective is to ensure a basic protection level and thus a decent living standard for the people who currently do not benefit from social protection. A basic level of protection includes access to essential services and social transfers population in poverty and vulnerability. Several developing countries have already taken successful measures, Mexico, Brazil and Chile, among them.
