Seminar in San Salvador – Social Inclusion

The concept “social inclusion” is derived from the Demographic Bonus issue. Social inclusion programs take into account poverty and all the different forms of inequality that have existed in marginalized groups, including indigenous groups, Afro-descendants, women, children, adolescents and youth, elderly, disabled and those living with HIV/AIDS, amongst others.

Social inclusion should be the gradual and constant correction of the exclusion of the marginalized groups mentioned above. Not only is it a struggle against poverty, but an impulse to education, a focus on education on teen pregnancy and sexuality, as well as reducing unemployment.

Latin America and the Caribbean show a tendency to integrate the Conditional Cash Transfer Programs (PTC for its acronym in Spanish) for poverty reduction, with social inclusion components to eliminate the ethnic, gender, intra-generation, and health barriers; resulting in the reduction of poverty and inequality.
