The United States House of Representatives approved over the weekend a major reform to health insurance regulations. While the political debate often polarizes the debate, it may be that the US is only moving in a direction many countries have followed in recent decades. If so, we expect that this reform will stabilize, not generating the "big bang" change some adherents adscribe to it, but also not creating the disastrous over-regulatory impact predicted by others. The article by Prof. Chernichovsky in the JAMA provides a good summary of what has been going one in the world in terms of health insurance regulation.
