Inter-American Award for Research on Social Security 2009

Today we announced the winner of the 2009 edition of the CISS award. Rodrigo Barros with his work Wealthier But Not Much Healthier: Effects of a Health Insurance Program for the Poor in Mexico won the first place. The author analyses the effect that the publicly subsidized health insurance program in Mexico, the Seguro Popular, has on health and formality. He finds that as up today the program has not contributed significantly to better health nor has promoted informality.
