Michelle Obama against child obesity

According to an article published by El Mundo, Michelle Obama presented 70 proposals of her working group against child obesity. It was said that this problem affects greatly Hispanic and African American children since they are twice as likely as their white peers to suffer from excess weight. On an earlier reportage, it was mentioned that obesity has tripled in the last 30 years and affects 17 percent of the child population.

Nowadays one out of six children is obese, compared to one out of twenty during the 70´s decade. The plan’s main objective is to reduce by year 2030, the obesity levels to 5% by promoting a healthier nutrition at home as well as in schools. In addition, the initiative emphasizes prevention by educating pregnant women on a healthy diet during gestation period and by promoting breastfeeding.
