In Nicaragua, according to a survey conducted by the firm M&R, 79.2% of households in the country have someone working in the informal sector. The rural sector has the higher percentage of informal employment (86.3%), followed by the semi-rural sector (83.2%) and finally the urban areas (75.6%). This is due to the poor training of the workforce and also by the difference in years of schooling between rural and urban areas, it is estimated that in rural areas people study on average 3 to 5 years, while in urban areas from 5 to 7 years.
In Mexico, the National Population Council (CONAPO) reported that during the last decades Mexico has created the conditions to achieve a significant improvement in health conditions. As a result, life expectancy increased 14.8 years between 1970 and 2010, currently located at an average of 75.4 years (77.8 for women and 73.1 for men). Thus, 24 entities have already achieved the goal of having a higher life expectancy than 75 years old in 2015 imposed by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
