Launching obesity and overweight strategy in Mexico
The Presidency of the Mexican Republic and the Ministry of Health came together today to launch a strategy against obesity and overweight with which they try to reduce this problem, which affects to 7 of each 10 Mexicans. They have a budget of 250 million pesos targeted to combat and prevent this disease. These resources will be used to promote healthy habits, foment physical activity in schools and address the problem in health centers. The failure to take necessary measures and if the trend continues, in the near future the public health costs by number of chronic diseases associated with obesity and overweight would be unsustainable.
